Did you know Funky Buddha Yoga turns 14 this late autumn?! First and foremost, thank you. Thank you for all you’ve shared: so much love, joy, healing, connection, Funky fun, and of course, sweat, in our spaces. Whether we’ve been a part of your yoga journey for a few days, a few months, or all 14 years- you are the reason we’ve gotten to be here after all this time and our gratitude for this community overflows.
With 14 years of amazing community engagement, comes well-loved studios. Pre-pandemic, we used to close for a week each summer to paint, fix, and deep clean. Since people come first at Funky Buddha, we’ve poured most of our time and resources since the pandemic into reconnecting with our community and staff. This year, it’s finally time to give the studio spaces some TLC: a few fixes here, a bit of paint there, and some funky fresh new cork flooring everywhere!
We’ve had the same sustainable cork flooring under your mats since the Hothouse first opened, and you may have noticed our hard-working 14-year-old wallpaper trying to retire in certain places. We’ve been working on this refresh for well over a year now, from finding contractors who share our Core Values to choosing colors that are warm, inviting, funky, and fun. We’ve taken great care in making sure you have familiar comforts along with a few fresh updates! We hope that when you enter our space again, it feels like coming home after a day with the windows open- a breath of fresh air, with a warm embrace.
To tackle such a large project, and to minimize disruptions in your yoga schedules, we’ll close the studios one at a time. From July 10-18th, our Eastown Studio will be closed. This is going to give our amazing work crews time to give that peeling wallpaper a helping hand, minimize lingering paint fumes, and give our new natural flooring time to settle in. Keep an eye out as we announce our Forest Hills and Holland closures toward the end of summer, and we’ll ensure you’re kept in the loop! <3
No matter the colors on the walls, our spaces have been made so special from you and your practice; from you showing up as a community, from our staff working with such care and reverence for the practice, from all of us maintaining space for silliness and play! Our yoga journey includes effort, rest, and all the beautiful moments between, and our spaces are here for you each step of the way, however you show up <3. Your practice and the Funky home we’ve all come to love (with a freshly painted wall or two) will be waiting for you!
We’d also like to say thank you to Lauren from Mont Design, for making the spaces beautiful, before a single brush of paint, and thank you to New Look Painting and Footprints Floors for their kind staff, quick responses, and high-quality work. We can’t wait to see it all come together!
